Jackson & Coker President, Sandra Garrett, Named A Top Woman in Staffing Industry

Nov. 14, 2018 – Jackson & Coker, one of the nation’s most-recognized staffing firms, is pleased to announced its President, Sandra Garrett, was selected for Staffing Industry Analysts’ (SIA) Global Power 150 – Women in Staffing list.

The Women in Staffing list was created in 2015 to showcase female leaders in the staffing industry and now includes 150 women worldwide. The list includes “a spotlight on those whose accomplishments and contributions are defining and redefining the evolution of work,” according to SIA. The women on this list are based on nominations from a survey released by SIA every year.

Sandra Garrett has been the president of Jackson & Coker since 2003 and has over 25 years of experience in physician recruitment and locum tenens staffing. Garrett is passionate about improving patient access to quality care as well as creating an environment in which associates want to come work. Upholding the Jackson & Coker company values, Garrett and the leadership team traveled to Costa Rica to build homes for families in need in 2018.

"Sandra Garrett has been integral to Jackson & Coker's success in healthcare staffing." said Shane Jackson, President of Jackson Healthcare, the parent company of Jackson & Coker. "Her focus on hiring great people, her commitment to giving back to the community, and her dedication to Jackson & Coker's associates on both a personal and professional level - these are the attributes that set Sandy apart from other leaders."

According to Pew Research, women make up only 47 percent of the U.S. work force and that number is declining. The number of women in the labor force peaked in 1999 at 60 percent and in 2017 the number of women was only 57 percent.

SIA reports that women only make up 6 percent of the seats on the boards of directors at the 27 public staffing firms in the U.S. In 2017, SIA’s Staffing 100 list, a list of 100 most influential leaders of the industry, included 22 women while 2018 saw a drop to 20 women due to the declining number of women in staffing leadership roles.

The Global Power 150 – Women in Staffing celebrates the women in leadership who influence both the staffing industry as well as the general workforce. These women, including Garrett, have helped shape a $461 billion global staffing industry. It’s essential to recognize these women leaders to influence more women to pursue important workplace roles.

SIA was founded in 1989 and is the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions. The organization is known for award-winning content, data, support tools, publications, executive conferences and events, to help companies make better-informed decisions that improve business results and minimize risk.
