State Hospital.
The Locum Tenens Doctor will work on one of four 14 to 20 bed inpatient units.
3 general adult units and 1 forensic unit. 100% adult patients. Locum Tenens average daily case load is 8 to 12 patients.
The Locum Tenens Doctor will see as many patients daily as he/ she thinks are necessary.
Acute patients are seen several times per week and sometimes daily.
Average combined length of stay is 6 to 12 weeks.
Most patients are involuntarily committed by civil code.
There are some forensic patients who come to the hospital for forensic evaluation.
Forensic experience is not required, however.

Inpatient & outpatient. 5 bed inpatient unit.
Ave census: 3-5. Average stay: 4 days for inpatient.
Locum tenens sees 100% adults & geriatric patients (Client also has some adolescent inpatients which are seen by another Doc).
Locum tenens Doc will see outpatients, average 10-15 daily -- 1 to 2 initial evaluations & the rest medication checks after rounding each day on the inpatient unit (takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hrs for rounds daily).
100% adults for outpatient too (Client also has some children & adolescents which are seen by another Doc, not the Locum Tenens doctor).
Call: 2 to 3 nights per week & every other weekend. Doc may do general admission orders, on rare occasion, if an adolescent presents to the hosp. in the middle of the night.
Locums does physicals for H&Ps unless a patient presents to the ER.
