ATLANTA, GA - Jackson & Coker (www.jacksoncoker.com), a leading national physician
staffing firm, announced that Jackson CVO, Inc., J&C's wholly owned Credentials
Verification Organization, has received NCQA Certification for nine out of nine
verification services. The certification is effective for two years, starting September
4, 2003, and enhances Jackson & Coker's capability to provide timely and accurate
credentialing services to hospitals and other health care organizations.
"Having this certification will streamline the credentialing process associated
with the placement of physicians and other medical providers," explained Ed McEachern,
Jackson & Coker's VP of Marketing. "Healthcare employers will have immediate
access to fully credentialed providers without having to duplicate a lengthy credentialing
process from their end," he added.
The NCQA, National Committee for Quality Assurance, is an independent, non-profit
organization that certifies Credentials Verification Organizations (CVO's), and
accredits managed care organizations. NCQA evaluates a CVO's management of various
aspects of its data collection and verification operations, as well as the process
it uses to continuously improve the services it provides.
The certification included a rigorous on-site evaluation conducted by a team of
health care professionals and certified credentialing specialists. A national oversight
committee of physicians analyzed the team's findings and determined certification
status based on Jackson CVO's full compliance with NCQA standards.
Certification is awarded to participating organizations on the basis of the composite
score for various credentialing elements. The nine credentialing services that were
evaluated include:
 |
- Application Processing
- Board Certification / Residency Completion / Medical School
Graduation
- DEA / CDS Registration
- License to Practice
- Malpractice Claims History
-
Malpractice Insurance
- Medicare / Medicaid Sanctions
- Ongoing Monitoring
- Sanctions Against License.

Jackson & Coker is one of the nation's oldest physician staffing firms, specializing
in the recruitment of doctors and advanced practitioners for locum tenens (temporary)
and permanent placement opportunities. Central to the company's operations has been
its in-house credentialing department. By creating an official CVO, recognized by
national certification, J&C has elevated its industry stature and enhanced its
client services.
Jackson CVO, Inc. became fully operational as a credentials verification organization
on May 1, 2002. It was created to perform credentialing services for the parent
company's growing practitioner staffing business. Since then, Jackson CVO has hired
additional staff, and defined and formalized its procedures to attract additional
clients in the health care industry.
"Achieving the CVO designation reflects management's broad vision to expand certified
credentialing services beyond our core recruitment business," McEachern said. "A
long-range goal is to offer such services to third-party entities seeking to hire
fully qualified, fully credentialed health practitioners for temporary or permanent
employment."
