The VA Medical Center in Alaska is in need of 2 locum tenens CRNA's to be responsible for consultations, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care of the patient undergoing surgical and invasive procedures requiring the use of general, major regional or monitored anesthesia care, to include administration of anesthetic agents.
Typical tasks performed by the CRNA will include, but will not be limited to:
a. Preoperative assessment and ASA risk classification
b. Administration of anesthetic agents
c. Medical management of patient rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain;
d. Protection of life functions and vital organs under the stress of anesthetic, surgical or other medical procedures;
e. Management of cardiopulmonary resuscitation before, during, and following surgery;
f. Management of respiratory problems associated with anesthesia;
g. Management of pain relief before, during, and after surgery;
This assignment will commence on the date of award and continue for 6 months. Working Monday through Friday, daytime hours. The contractor will not be required, except in case of emergency, to furnish such services during off-duty hours.
All the traditional VA requirements apply background checks, computer skills, computerized record keeping, updated shot record and physical prior to start.

Hours are 7:00-3:30, Monday- Friday.
No Call
No Weekends
Type of cases: General Surgery, Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecological. Pediatric including Tonsillectomy, Some Plastic and Podiatry, and Obstetrics.
Spinal skills encouraged.
3 Anesthesiologists on staff
3 full time and 2 part time CRNAs.
NOT a trauma surgery center.
NO HEARTS, HEADS, MAJOR VASCULAR, THORACIC OR NEURO SURGERY AND NO TRAUMA.
FACILITY PROVIDES PROPOFOL SEDATION FOR ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURES.
